This is a dense granola bar which can be used as a snack on the go. Nuts provide protein, oats provide fibre, wheatgerm provides B vitamins to keep you going and the hemp seeds provide essential omega 3 fatty acids.


2 cups rolled whole oats

½ cup walnuts chopped

1 cup almonds slivered

½ cup hemp seeds (you can also use flax seeds)

1 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened, and unsulphured if you can get it)

½ cup honey

3 tbsp coconut oil

1 cut organic nut butter (almond, cashew, peanut – your choice)

1 cup chocolate or carob chips


1In a bowl combine all the dry ingredients.

2In a saucepan combine the honey, coconut oil and nut butter.

3Put nut butter mixture over top of dry granola mixture and mix well with your hands until all of the granola mixture is covered.

4Press into a parchment paper lined 9” square pan and cool in the fridge or freezer.

5Cut into bars and wrap individually.
